Sustainable Kirkland will not be meeting today - meetings will resume on November 12 and will continue on second Thursday of each month.

September Meeting Notes
Met at Fire Station:
1. Volunteer Simplicity - starting a new course in Juanita $20 nweiseattle.org
2. Time banking - Hopelink received funding to do time banking on the Eastside
3. National Organizations - bike sharing program Eileen is already
involved with this through work - Torrey will look into national
organizations
4. Can do a tour of the new Google building sometime in the winter,
try and get "non-greenies" to go
5. City of Kirkland Climate Action Plan - possibilities that group
could get involved in
6. Meeting with city - Claire and Eileen met with Betsy from the City,
a few possibilities came up but nothing that we would latch onto
7. "In Motion" - promote biking in Kirkland - will have action items for spring
8. Bag ban - just had a bag ban in Edmonds, are we interested in
pursuing this in Kirkland?
9. How can we get involved with kids programs - Training how to ride
the bus, bike to school, walking school bus, cool school challenge
(PSE)
10. Neighborhood groups - plan event for groups picnics - bike fair
11. Major Taylor Program - cascade bike club after school bike clubs -
teach kids how to ride, give them bikes, encourage bikes as
transportation.
12. Pea patch - will be new pea patch by the teen center - can we get
involved with this, Margret will let us know when she has information,
Dave to ask pea patch coordinator about more pea patches
13. Green vehicle show in Kirkland in the Spring? at Fred Meyer?
14. candidates meeting - People should attend.
